Aim: To strengthen families in their role of providing guidance and discipline, and instilling sound values for positive youth development Parenting Programmes (MCYS)
Parenting Programmes

The Parenting Programmes seek to preserve and uphold the concept of the family as the basic unit of society by nurturing strong relationships and to help parents understand the process of child upbringing so they can become effective parents.

The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) co-ordinates parenting programmes that are organised by Family Service Centres (FSCs), Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), grassroots organisations, community clubs and schools. MCYS also provides support in terms of funding, publicity, resource materials and resource speakers.

School Family Education Programme (MCYS) (2002)
School Family Education (SFE) is aimed at imbuing the young with positive values towards the family and empowering parents to better nurture their children. Piloted in 2002, SFE enhances the quality of family life by making family life education resources easily available to parents, students and teachers via the Family Life Centre and providing specially-tailored family life education programmes to meet the different needs of the target groups.

Student Care Centres (MCYS)

Student Care Centres (SCCs) provide care and supervision of school-going children aged seven (Primary 1) to 14 years (Secondary 2). SCCs help working parents by providing care for their school-going children while they are at work.

They aim to supervise homework, play, enrichment and recreational activities for school-age children before or after school. This will enhance their wholesome development, including physical, intellectual, emotional, social and moral development.
